I am firm believer that the only constant in life is change, and as we grow and evolve CHANGE is inevitable. My journey has evolved from humble beginnings of Clay mixes, Gelatin Treatments and yes even Avocado conditioners, to using possibly almost every single "drugstore" treatment available in Mzansi, to eventually graduating to Professional treatments.
What is the difference?
Professional products contain concentrated high quality ingredients, they have been extensively researched, they often contain exclusive ingredients and are nutrient rich. Don't get me wrong I am not in anyway suggesting that drugstore products have inferior ingredients, they just do not contain the high concentration levels as the professional products.
My Experience
So what have I actually changed? I have only incorporated PROFESSIONAL TREATMENTS into my hair-care routine, I now no longer use "drugstore" protein/strength, or moisture treatments. The biggest changes I have noticed is that I no longer get massive build-up as the treatments now actually penetrate my hair fiber rather than just coat the outside of my hair. My hair is stronger, vibrant, softer and smoother. My hairstyles last longer and I actually spend less on products as a little goes a long way. Will I eventually move my care products to more of a professional home-care system? I am not sure yet, but I will say I much more careful in choosing my products and the products I test, my hair has actually gone through a lot in the last 2 years. I do believe that the products I use currently are good for my hair and I have seen a marked improvement in the health of my hair.
Please remember that what works for me might not necessarily work for you and my philosophy is always do what suits you, your hair and your lifestyle.
Have you tried any professional products? What are your favorite ones? Do you think that Salons should use Professional products?
