My love of Matte and liquid lipsticks had my poor Pout in a state last week. Matte lip products do have tendency of drying your lips. To keep you lips looking perfectly scrumptious you need to ensure that you keep your lips well moisturized and exfoliated. I had to swap my favorite matte lip products for protective and soothing lip balms.
As soon as I felt the tell tale signs of "chapping" I immediately started applying Eucerin Intensive Lip Balm on my lips, I did this continuously for two days. This lip balm is the best at effectively treating dry chapped lips, the product contains ingredients such as Primrose oil which helps to regenerate the lip's natural protective barrier, Glycerol which intensively moisturizes the lips. All the ingredients in the product work together to keep your lips soft and smooth.
On the third day I gave my lips a good scrub with the Lush Lip Scrub in Mint Julips, this is my go to lip scrub and I use this scrub regularly as it preps my lips beautifully for all my lipstick applications. I find it has the perfect balance of sugar and oils to give my lips a good scrub without been too harsh and oily. Soon after my scrub my Pout was perfect once more.
For the next couple of days I interchanged my lip balms between the Nivea Lip Butter and the Eucerin Intensive lip Balm by the weekend my lips were perfectly scrumptious and I was back to my matte lip sticks.
One of the most important things to remember when you lips are dry is avoid licking them as the enzymes in the saliva "eat away" at the very thin protective layer of skin on your lips and this compounds the issue. If you lips are always dry
you might have a vitamin deficiency and you would need to check with your doctor.
What are your favorite lip scrubs? Do you wear matte lipsticks? Let me know in the comments below
