1. LISTEN - to your hair, this is absolutely key. Don't just do things because they are part of your routine, sometimes you might not need to Deep Condition. Your hair might actually be telling you it needs something else.
2. PROTEIN - is what hair is made up of. A protein treatment fortifies and strengthens your hair against damage. I prefer treatments that contain "hydrolyzed protein" as these are small enough to penetrate my hair strand.
3. MOISTURE - in hair helps to stop breakage. Dry hair snaps like a dry twig. It is vital that you keep your body hydrated by drinking plenty of water and add moisture to your hair. Remember that water or water based products are the only ones that can truly moisturize your hair.
4. HEALTHY SCALP - equals happy healthy hair. Maintaining a clean healthy scalp is key in the overall health of your hair. Do not "base" your scalp with heavy petroleum based products as these will clog your pores, instead choose light oils such as Coconut, Grape-seed, Jojoba Oils, these will absorb easily into our skin.
5. STYLING - can impact the health of your hair. Protective styles that are too tight or left on for too long can cause scalp issues and breakage. My rule of thumb with any type of styling, is moderation, too much of anything is never good.
One very important thing to always keep in mind, is your general health. What we put into our bodies shows on the outside your hair included. Making sure you maintain a healthy lifestyle will not only ensure you are strong and healthy but it will maintain strong hair as well.
