Taking Care of Your Natural Hair During Lock-down




So you in Lock-down and haven't been able to visit your favorite hair salon for your monthly treatments. Well here are a few tips that should help your till your are reunited with your beloved hair stylist.



1. Don't Skip your Wash Day

 As tempting as it is not to wash your own hair, because you cannot handle the de-tangling or styling don't skip this. A healthy scalp is key to hair health and growth. For easier shampooing do it in the shower. Concentrate your shampoo on your scalp as this ensures removal of all build up.

2. Conditioning keeps the knots and tangles away

Never skip conditioning your hair. Conditioner brings your hair back to its normal PH after shampooing.  Plus it gives your hair manageability and softness. Concentrate your conditioner to the mid-lengths and ends of your hair. Leave it on for about 5 minutes and de-tangle your hair.



3. Leave-in Conditioners give your the extra edge

A good leave-in conditioner is a definite must it will add all the moisture back into your hair whilst softening your hair.  Make sure you have blotted your hair with a towel so as not to waste any product. Apply your leave-in conditioner mid-length to ends and gently de-tangle your hair.

4. Seal the Deal

Sealing your hair with a moisturizer, butter or oil will ensure that all your work does not go to waste. Make sure you choose a butter or an oil that will help in further softening your hair. Mango butter or Avocado butter work best in softening your hair.

5. Style for success
Style your hair in low- manipulation styles help to preserve moisture.  Flat Twists, Chunky Twist, Bantu knots, Benny and Betty or a simple Bun will work perfectly.


Following these simple steps every two weeks will make your hair lock-down proof till you can visit your hair stylist again.
