Program |
what a lot of fun we had at the brunch......I was so happy to see 99% of the products at the event were locally made products which meant a lot of us will get to try these awesome products........the event was very well organised by
Azania Unlimited and it was held upstairs at Thrive Cafe on Vilikazi street in Soweto it was fairly easy to find and because it started early parking was an absolute breeze
|
Afro Botanics |
Ruth from
+Natural Sisters was kind of like the MC for the event, she introduced all the speakers and the sponsors......and each of the sponsors got to briefly talk about their products........we got to hear how
+Afro Botanics started out we got info about each product and what was in Afro Botanics products and where to buy them...... Fanta from
+AuCurls Naturelle is the lady behind
Fine Naturals she spoke about how her products were conceived from sheer "frustration" at not been able to find products for her hair on shop shelves......
+Natural Sisters products literally come out of Ruth's kitchen she makes them herself and whilst blogging about her hair care her followers started asking for her products so she started making more and selling them to as far as Malawi (WOW hey)....... and of course
Nubian Nature had their full range of Moisturizers and Elixers there as well.........I am sure followers of my blog all know how I absolutely love Nubian Nature's products after I purchased them at the AIHE so it was such a treat to finally meet the woman behind the products (affectionately known as the hair crack queen).........then lastly there was some imports from PUP they brought us some Jamaican Mango and Lime products and
+III Sisters of Nature to try out........
|
Natural Sisters Shea Butter |
...........unfortunately the program started an hour later than planned as most of us operate on African time so there was a few late comers but it was worth the wait....Ruth from
+Natural Sisters spoke to us about Hair Care 101 she basically ran down what she does on her hair and imparted some tips she touched on things like Moisture, Cleansing and Heat protection and she shared parts of her hair regime with the group as well......and a lot of us asked questions as we went along and I certainly learnt a lot of things from Ruth's presentation........
|
Deep Treatment Fine Naturals |
my South African Hair Crush
+AuCurls Naturelle talked to us about how to get the "perfect wash and go" and she touched on the basics of wash and go and what a wash and go actually means to a person with natural hair.......the event was structured in such a way that we could ask questions as you went along and everyone one shared their insights and what they had tried and there was not topic off limits about natural hair and I felt that the ladies presented their information so well and had time to answer everyone's questions even if it wasn't specifically to do with what Fanta or Ruth had presented on we had questions on hairlines, hair dye, dandruff, hair growth so the information was free flowing.......
|
Nubian Nature |
Then came the fun part where we got to touch, feel, and smell all the products from the sponsors and because the makers of the products were right there we could ask them question about what their products did where we could buy them, and they also gave out tips on hair care.......and for a self confessed product junkie this was absolute
HEAVEN........
