I was thinking about how to add more value to the blog..... and how readers of this blog could get more out of it......sure I do my hair try products rate them and then tell you all about it..........but in order to add more value it would be beneficial to get some of the readers to use the best products I have tried.......and watching the hair Vlogger Mo Knows Hair (www,moknowshair.com) and her Care Classes I thought it would be great to have something like in Mzansi ........so here is our first Care Class of the year
I approached my two guinea pigs and convinced them to hand over their heads to me......Sazi and Sisa are two gorgeous sisters with TWA's (teeny weeny afro's)......we started off with Sazi she is a natural with a tapered TWA she has had SCurl on hair before and was looking for a natural non-chemical way of achieving those curls on her hair....... Sazi really isn't one of those people that spends hours doing hair, she wants to have great hair but with minimal time spent........we started off by shampooing her hair with Afro Botanics Reparing Shampoo (R40) we used a small amount and concentrated the shampoo on her scalp to get rid of any build-up next we applied the Afro Botanics Deep Penetrating Moisturising Conditioner (R80) and put a plastic cap on her head, she kept the treatment on for just over 2 hours........we rinsed off the conditioner with tepid water, we used the Afro Botanics Conditioning Moisturiser (R40) as a leave in conditioner.....to achieve those "SCURL" curls we used Eco Styler Gel (R139) and her curls were popping. Sazi loved the way her hair felt after using the Afro Botanics products, she said her hair was extremely soft......she of course loved how her curls popped with Eco Styler gel.
Recommendations for Sazi
To maintain her hair health I recommended that Sazi uses the Afro Botanics range and that she uses their shampoo once a month to get rid of build up and to follow that up with the Afro Botanics Repairing & Strengthening Protein Treatment (R80), I suggested that she deep condition with their deep conditioner every week, after co-washing with the same product.......she is to keep the conditioner on her hair for at least 2 hours then rinse off and follow that with leave in conditioner and then style as desired style. For her edges I advised Sazi to buy the Afro Botanics Super Growth Creme (R70), Sazi has 4C hair and as a sealant for her hair I advised she uses Nubian Nature's Mango Citrus Nourish Creme with Marula Oil (R100) she already uses ORS Incredibly Rich Moisturizing Hair Lotion which is an excellent water based moisturiser....... we will catch up with Sazi in a few weeks and find out how she is doing on my recommendations
Sisa's has 4C hair as well and it is extremely dry and it was shedding excessively she blames a sock weave installation by a stylist a few months ago for the breakage on her edges and her crown, she says the shedding started shortly after she took off the weave.......her hair is not breaking from the roots but it is snapping literally in half like a dry twig which tells me her hair is extremely dry.....we started off by shampooing her hair with Afro Botanics Repairing Shampoo to clear any build up on her scalp then we used Afro Botanics Deep Penetrating Moisturising Conditioner we kept it on her hair for at least 2 hours, whilst her hair was still damp I applied Afro Botanics Super Growth Creme on her scalp and on her edges then we used the leave in conditioner. I sealed all this moisture and conditioner with Nubian Nature's Hair Elixer with Mongongo oil (R80), I did not style Sisa's hair we let her TWA free flow.
Recommendations for Sisa
For Sisa to get her hair back to a healthy state, I recommended that she uses whole Afro Botanics range, she really needs to get the moisture into her hair and fast, so I recommend that she deep conditions her hair twice a week with their deep conditioner. She has to leave the conditioner on her hair for at least 3 hours at a time......a protein treatment must be done every 2 weeks to make her hair strong, to grow her hair in the crown and repair her edges she must use their super growth creme every evening and massage her temples to stimulate growth......Sisa must minimize any stress on her hair, therefore; any hair-styles that might cause even more damage such as braiding or cornrows are a definite NO NO! she has to leave her hair alone for a bit ........
I gave Sisa and Sazi a spritz and I showed them how to make their own, they can use this to introduce moisture. I also suggested that Sisa purchase Nubian Nature's Shea Lavender Moisturise Souffle (R105) as a moisturizer as it is water based and it will also help heal her hair strands. Using Nubian Nature's elixers will seal in the moisture that her hair so desperately needs and they make her hair soft ........we will catch up with her in couple of weeks and find out how she is doing on
my recommendations.
