Product Review: Nilotiqa Hair Products

Nilotiqa is a proudly South African brand making hair products to specifically address dry thirsty 4 type natural hair. I bought the Nilotiqa range for this review. The range consists of 4 products which are a Cowash, Detangling Cream, Moisture Butter and a Nourishing oil.The main ingredient in all the products is Shea Butter it also contains Coconut, Avocado and Castor Oils.

Replenishing Conditioner (R90)
I felt that this product was too heavy to cleanse my hair and scalp. My hair felt greasy after using it. Not  being a fan of Co-washing in general I felt that this product was much heavier than the other co-wash products available on the market currently. In my opinion this product will cause more build-up in your hair than actually cleanse it.  I will not be purchasing this product again.

Detangling Cream (R130)
This product is the answer to all your de-tangling nightmares. It melts the knots away whilst leaving your hair incredibly soft and smooth.  This product is absolutely perfect for coarse dry 4C hair on wash-day it  also doubles up as an excellent leave-in conditioner.  I cannot say enough good things about this product and for me it is a definite keeper.

Deep Moisture Butter (R100)
This is a perfect moisturizing cream for those that suffer with chronically dry hair.  It instantly moisturizes very dry locks without the need for LOC method you can literally apply style and be out the house it is excellent for "lazy naturals"also with summer fast approaching make sure you keep this product handy to give your hair a quick boost of moisture.

Nourishing Oil (R100)
Is a mixture of oils.  I have no opinion on oil mixes. I am sorry if that sounds a bit harsh but everyone has an oil mix and it has become rather redundant. Would I pay for it if I didn't have to do a review definitely NOT.

My Thoughts.....
The Nilotiqa range is the start of what could potentially be a great product range in Mzansi it is well thought out and uses ingredients found in Africa and most importantly it address the issue of dry African Hair.  I do  hope that they add a shampoo and a deep conditioner to the range soon so that it becomes a complete care system for naturals with very dry thirsty hair. On the pricing, I feel that the products are slightly overpriced and should be much more affordable given the fact that they are locally made.

Nilotiqa gets a thumbs up from me and I look forward to more products from them.

Have you tried the Nilotiqa Range?  What new local products have you seen that you think I should try?
